Portrait using Wideangle

I was once told that a 30mm was too short to be useful for portraits. So what about using a 10-20mm lens?  The picture below is taken at 13mm, pretty much stuck 3″ in front of my face.  Yes, it’s not flattering… yes, if you took a portrait of someone like that they probably wouldn’t want to pay for it…  It’s a portrait though, and taken with something less than 30mm.   I also just read an article about the guy who took the photos for the ‘Trainspotting’ poster…. and he used… a wide angle lens (but not so extreme).Wide angle portrait
