Where the D40 lets me down

In a previous post I mentioned the problem with the D40.  In every other respects it’s brilliant, but at “high” ISOs it does tend to suffer.  This photo was taken at 1600.  But I like the photo! The noise was so unfixable, I ended up adding grain to the picture to push it the other way.

I haven’t taken a self portrait for a while. Although this was just experimenting with my Canon S100 (which is generally very good in low light), and while not the prettiest of pictures, I like the effect.
